In addition to being a qualified antenatal educator and hypnobirthing practitioner, Zana is also a qualified and accredited counsellor. It may not surprise you, therefore, to hear that as a counsellor she specialises in working with adults who are struggling with difficult feelings or challenges arising from pregnancy, birth or parenting.

If you’d like more extensive information, please go to Zana’s counselling website:

Zana says:

"I initially undertook the first steps in counselling training to enhance and complement my work with groups of pregnant parents in antenatal classes, with no intention of continuing to become a qualified counsellor. As an antenatal teacher I knew that I was meeting people at a vulnerable and emotional time in their lives and I wanted to feel more sure that I was helping them access and cope with difficult feelings as safely as possible. Having completed the one-year certificate in counselling, my interest was piqued and I knew I had to continue and become properly qualified. I’ve been working in my small private practice since qualifying in 2010. I am an Accredited Member of the National Counselling Society which is registered with the Professional Standards Authority.

Although my counselling work is not exclusively connected to pregnancy, birth and parenting, given my wealth of experience working with new parents I do have a special interest and knowledge in these areas and therefore now have a few vacancies for clients looking for this kind of specialist counselling.

If you are struggling with any of the following or similar and would like to make an appointment for an initial chat, please do get in touch. You can email Zana at [email protected] or text or call 07905658386.

I may be able to help you if you are:

  • Afraid or anxious about becoming or being pregnant
  • Afraid or anxious about labour and birth
  • Struggling with thoughts and feelings around pregnancy termination
  • Struggling with thoughts and feelings around miscarriage
  • Worried about coping during labour
  • Suffering following a difficult birth experience
  • Finding a birth experience difficult to accept
  • Feeling upset or disappointed after giving birth
  • Living with postnatal depression
  • Finding it hard to adjust to being a parent
  • Finding relational or emotional changes difficult
  • Or perhaps less specifically, just looking for some extra support to help you through a challenging time.

I work 1-1 with clients in a comfortable, dedicated room in my home just outside Totton, Hampshire. It is easily accessible from the M27, Southampton, New Forest, Romsey, Winchester and the surrounding area, being just off the main A35. Journey times from Romsey or central Southampton are about 15-20 minutes. There are also bus stops nearby with regular services from Southampton and the New Forest.

During the current pandemic we might need to meet online via Zoom rather than in person, depending on government restrictions at the time coupled with our own sense of what feels safest.

After initial contact via email or the phone we may arrange to meet for an initial "assessment" session that enables you and I to find out more about one-another and to make decisions about our suitability for working together. This initial session is £15 and lasts for up to an hour and a half.

Following this, if we decide to embark on regular, weekly counselling sessions the cost per 50 minute session is £40.

If you have any questions, or if you would like to make an appointment for counselling please contact me. You can also contact me from my Counselling With Zana website."
